What's In Your Bag: Natsumi Suzuki

What's In Your Bag Natsumi Suzuki Adelaide Australia
Tell us a little bit about yourself?
Salutations! My name is Natsumi but a lot of people in the blogging and real world tend to call me Suki which is apparently easier. I’m half Japanese, half Sri Lankan and have lived all over the world but currently I’m in Adelaide, Australia. I’m a social sciences graduate who is still figuring out what to do with herself but at the moment it looks like I might be getting further qualifications and blogging and modelling on the side again!
I blog at http://natsumisuzuki.blogspot.com which is my third “serious” blog in the last four years and is more focused on my personal life and experiences. You can also find me on Instagram on either my personal Instagram (http://www.instagram.com/sumiNat) or my blog Instagram (http://www.instagram.com/thesummerbeauty); if you’re interested in rambles then you can find me on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/sumiNat

What bag do you carry?

A bag by Colette that is out of my comfort zone because of the blue and white. I don’t do color much but I love this bag because it reminds me to do color more often! Although I must secretly love it because it’s the bag I always carry – provided it matches my outfit of course.
What's In Your Bag India

Can you show us the contents of your bag and talk a bit about it?

I warn you - it's a little bit crazy inside my bag!
As you can see I actually carry a bag within my bag! Mainly because I don't like to get plastic bags and like to provide my own bag when I can. This black and neon pink one is from Cotton On Body.
Hopefully you can pick the rest of the items out! I will try to go from left to right as best I can:
1. Sunglasses: I always need them even on overcast days since my eyes are really sensitive to light and have an irritating tendency to water all the time due to my contact lenses so having a pair always helps so people don't think I'm crying!
2. A small pouch containing a lot of emergency essentials, like band aids, blotting paper, hair pins, safety pins, sanitary items, pens, paper, eyeliner, eye drops, Neurofen, Panadol, and some other odd bits
3. A lip balm and a neutral lipstick that will match whatever I'm wearing in case I forget to bring the color I'm wearing for the day
4. Two pouches that contain items from a temple - sort of like good luck items!
5. Tissues and mints: I have found that I ALWAYS need these items and not for myself usually so I guess it's like I'm Mary Poppins, just prepared to provide for others!
6. A big mirror: it used to have this beautiful purple cat and silver filigree design on it but it's faded significantly since I've had it for probably over seven years!
7. Protein bar or some sort of candy for the days I rush out and forget to get some sugar in my system which results in me getting pretty tired or, if I'm hungry, cranky!
8. My wallet and Colette and Tiffany cardholders: I like to keep my important cards in my Tiffany cardholder so in the event my wallet gets stolen none of them are in it (eeek, cat is out of the bag now!) and it's just easier to pack into a smaller bag if I'm in a rush without having to dig through my wallet. The Colette cardholder contains all of my spare cards that I don't use often like memberships or gift cards.
9. Keys and my phone – in case I need to get back inside my house or need to bury my face in something in the event I trip in public (which happens at least once a day).
10. A small bottle of water because in Adelaide you can walk to most places without having to take transportation but it can get quite hot especially if it's summer so you ALWAYS need water on hand!
11. Umbrella and plastic bag: the latter is to keep my umbrella in if it's wet so it doesn't get water everywhere inside my bag or when I'm inside places - I've seen people injure themselves by tripping on water dragged in by umbrellas! This lives in my bag especially during winter when it can rain out of the blue and to be stuck without one means freezing double time!
12. My iPod – so important especially for long car rides because the radio stations are absolutely horrendous.
What are some of the essentials you carry in your bag on a regular basis?
If I had to simplify it (which I do quite a bit because I’m too lazy to lug around a big bag): my keys, phone, tissues, lipstick and Tiffany cardholder.

If you were to head out to a fancy party, what would you carry in your bag?
Keys, Tiffany cardholder with all the important cards, a smaller mirror, the lipstick I’m wearing to the party, tissues, my phone, vial of perfume and mints.

For a day of adventure, what would you pack?
Depends on the adventure but usually I manage to fit most of what goes in my regular bag into a smaller bag! I believe in always being prepared just based on past experiences.

Lastly, how many bags do you own?
Probably over ten; I try to rotate when I can so they all get used. I plan on downscaling my belongings so it’s more minimalist and hopefully I end up with less than ten bags eventually.

5 Unwritten Blogging Rules

5 Rules Of Blogging
I'm not writing this sitting on a high horse; I'm writing this as one of you, as a fellow blogger doling out friendly advice. I know the blogging world is a competitive place, but it all boils down to how you see it, and what you're in it for. There're certain unwritten rules of the blogging world, and I thought I'd jot it down for you.

1) On Plagiarism: I know it's difficult to come up with engaging content on a day-to-day basis, but that's no excuse to use someone else's work and pass it off as your own. Create your own niche and build a readership on your own merit.

2) On Working With Brands: Before you approach a brand, research about them, and see if you meet their criteria. Honestly, I think the best approach is to let the brands come to you. If you're a relatively new blogger, you'd might want to wait until you've built up a loyal readership or gained some traction. Focus on creating quality content and the rest will fall in its place.

3) On Quality: Content is the king. Gone are the days when blogging was all about quantity. With so many bloggers jostling for space, what will ultimately help you stand out from the crowd is the kind of content you create. Draw up a weekly blogging schedule and stick to it. I post five days a week, but, of late, with my crazy work schedule, it's down to three posts per week.

4) On Comparison: All of us do this. There are some bloggers we love to hate. You know what my advice is? Unfollow them. Yes, just do it! You're doing a great injustice to yourself by comparing yourself with someone you barely know. Ain't nobody got time for negativity. Be Proud Of What You Do. Be Proud Of You.

5) On Numbers: With so much pressure to excel, it's easy to fall for the lure of fake followers. If you have thousands of followers, and no meaningful interaction on your page, that's a dead giveaway. Organic growth, albeit a little slow, is more valuable to you and your blog. Social Media is also a great way to increase your audience, but don't expect it to happen overnight. Most top bloggers have been doing it for over five to six years now; so the key to getting 'there' (wherever that might be) is a lot of patience coupled with hard work, and pure luck.

Do you agree or agree to disagree with these 5 unwritten rules?

What bag do you carry?
On recent occasions I’ve been carrying a beautiful Celine Tote Bag I picked up a few years ago, as it’s functional and fits practically all my life inside without having to miss out any essential beauty/fashion carries! On other occasions I usually would opt for my LV Speedy bag, or possibly a clutch bag, when I’m pushing for time a and have to make quick decisions about what to carry, and which bag will take with me!

What's In Your Bag India

Can you show us the contents of your bag and talk a bit about it?
On most occasions I carry a larger bag, so that I can fit all my essentials inside to prepare me for an unpredictable day. Living in London enables you to realize that every day is different, and one hour it could rain, and the next it could be nice and sunny! So I usually pack my Bag with a handy umbrella, some cooling spray, Anti Frizz Oil, a hairbrush and some makeup / beauty essentials.  All the essentials to prepare you for all the obstacles/situations you may find yourself in, in whilst in London!

What are some of the essentials you carry in your bag on a regular basis?
I usually carry Hand Sanitizer or some sort of hand sanitizing wipes, I can’t begin to describe how essential this is in your handbags, from all the different situations you will be faced with during the day. I usually carry my Select Sheer Pressed powder – Mac, if I need to touch up my make up and I carry at least 2-3 shades of lipsticks/ lipglosses Usually a Red, a pink and a gloss (you just never know?) I have to also carry a packet of tissues, phone charger, Sunglasses, Umbrella, Notepad!

If you were to head out to a fancy party, what would you carry in your bag?
I’d carry a small Clutch bag, & inside would only really be my Phone, some Money, my YSL – Pur Rogue Couture Lipstick in the brightest Red, a mini version of my perfume, and some plasters in case my Heels will start hurting and definitely a packet of chewing gum.

For a day of adventure, what would you pack?
I think everyday is an adventure in this Concrete Jungle of a world? I usually pack my Camera, my headphones, my phone, some money, My transport/ travel card, a little Train map and all the other essentials such as my hand sanitizer, umbrella, (a pair of flats if I’m wearing Heels) < Those fold-up Ballerinas! My Sunglasses and makeup!

Lastly, how many bags do you own?
I have over 150 different bags, ranging from Clutch Bags, Chain Handle bags, Totes, Hold alls, and more.

Ben Nye Banana Powder Dupe

elf Mineral Booster Powder in Corrective Yellow
Though not an exact dupe of Ben Nye's Banana Powder; the e.l.f Mineral Booster Powder in Corrective Yellow is a close match.

I've always avoided powders, as I have dry skin, but the e.l.f Mineral Booster Powder adds a soft-focus finish while blurring out the pores and other imperfections.

The finely milled powder has a silicone-y texture that doesn't settle into dry patches or look too obvious on the face. I love how the yellow pigment brightens up dull and tired looking skin at the sweep of a brush.

elf cosmetics in India Online

It has a matte finish and blends in quite effortlessly. Powders can look chalky on the skin, but the mineral booster powder has a velvety texture and is quite easy to work with. It not only absorbs surface oil, but also sets makeup and reduces shine along the T-zone.

The powder keeps my makeup intact for a good  five to six hours. I often use it to set my concealer or dust it around the nose to counteract redness. Sometimes, I apply it all over the face with a big, fluffy brush to mattify my makeup.

The yellow powder looks more natural on the skin than a translucent powder.

This one's a must-have!

What's In Your Bag: Glenyse Thompson

Glenyse Thompson From Clearwater Florida
Tell us a little bit about yourself?
Hi everyone, my name is Glenyse. My day job as an Executive Assistant is the secret angel investor for my side gig, www.thecuratedaccessory.com where I source and sell jewelry for audaciously chic women. I also blog about whatever suits my fancy at www.styleosophy.com. Originally, I hail from Chicago, and spent most of my childhood in Saginaw, Michigan, but now call sunny Clearwater, Florida home. There was definitely a style and fashion learning curve adjustment after I moved as my snow and ice wardrobe met really hot, really humid, year-round warm weather.

What bag do you carry?
I carry a different bag everyday. Any day I leave the house, I usually change my handbag to match my outfit. My brand loyalty is attached to my wallet and what makes me happy. Furla, Coach, Louis, LeSportsac, as well as popular store brands (Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, DSW) and custom-made handbags (Ms. Mak) all have a place in my closet.

What's In Your Bag India

Can you show us the contents of your bag and talk a bit about it?
Everyday I carry a Pursen. I own three Pursen's, two in Medium, one in Large. The Large is only used when I am traveling, Medium's are for everyday use. When I switch my bag in the morning, the Pursen moves to that day's handbag. This makes it easy to not forget anything. In it always is perfume, lipstick and lipgloss, bronzer, eye drops, Crazy Glue, toothpicks, mirror, tissue, ink pens, mints, hand wipes, and a mini-notebook to jot stuff down.

What are some of the essentials you carry in your bag on a regular basis?
Besides my Pursen I carry a Levenger Accordian wallet, orange Yubz telephone (a plug-in handset that functions as a regular phone), Eyebobs glasses case with various Eyebobs Readers (which I also change according to outfit) and Eyebobs Sunglasses.

If you were to head out to a fancy party, what would you carry in your bag?
Lip gloss, house keys, tissue, mints, safety pins, and perfume. I like a larger clutch if possible. But tiny works sometimes too.

For a day of adventure, what would you pack?
Well, everyday is an adventure. Additional items might include magazines, and hand wipes. Anything more than that is going towards a Tumi carry-on for a trip.

Lastly, how many bags do you own?

Oh my, over 400?

Top 5 Beauty Shopping Websites

International Beauty Shopping Websites That Deliver To India

Every time I'm a little bored (read: all the time), I delve into the world of online beauty shopping. These beauty websites always throw up something new and before I know it I've spent 30 minutes researching about the latest launch. Here's a look at my favourites:

Feelunique: I could write a love letter about feelunique.com, that's how much I love this website. It's definitely one of my top favourite places to shop as it hosts the most comprehensive list of beauty brands. I make at least one purchase every month and the parcel reaches me in eight days flat! I haven't had any problems of missing parcel, late delivery or custom charges. And guess what? They have free delivery for orders over £10. Love, love, love! (If you're a Tanya Burr fan, you'd might want to check out her beauty line)

Beauty Shopping Websites Free Worldwide Delivery
ASOS: I rarely ever check anything other than their beauty section (not completely true). Home to drugstore beauty brands like Rimmel, Bourjois, Barry M and luxe brands like NARS, Benefit, Illamasqua -- ASOS is the perfect place to go shopping if you're broke or feeling spendy. They have great delivery options and offer free worldwide shipping. However, you'll have to bear the custom charges (downer!). Apart from that, their service is flawless. I'm currently lusting after this Illamasqua Matte Lip Liquid in Exotic.

Escentual: When I saw (Queen) Lisa Eldridge talk about her French Pharmacy Favourites, I sighed wondering where I could buy all the stuff she mentioned. A day later I found Escentual; it was Karma I tell you. Escentual houses all the French Pharmacy favourites like Vichy, Bioderma, La Roche-Posay and Caudalie. Their standard shipping charge is about £4.95 and the delivery takes anywhere between 10-20 working days. (Psst! They're offering up to 1/3 off on all their French brands throughout June.) Go. Shop. Now!

BeautyBay: This website houses hard to find brands like Alpha-H, Dr Jart+ and Anastasia Beverly Hills (yay!). The website is visually appealing and all their products are categorised into easily searchable lists. With beauty tips, tricks and helpful advice, BeautyBay is a one-stop-shop for everything beauty related. They offer free worldwide shipping. This eyeshadow palette is calling out my name. The price is great too!

Nordstrom: Nordstrom's brand list is pretty impressive; it's a Mecca for high-end beauty buys. The website houses some of the hottest brands like Shiseido, Giorgio Armani, Bobbi Brown and Dior to name a few. They offer worldwide delivery, however, their shipping price is quite steep. Sigh.  How gorgeous is this Yves Saint Laurent 'Baby Doll' Kiss & Blush?

Note: All these websites deliver to India.

What's In Your Bag: Estrella Sansait

What's In Your Bag Estrella Sansait

Tell us a little bit about yourself?
Hello! My name is Estrella. I’m from Toronto, Canada but I’m currently teaching English in Madrid, Spain. I’ve always wanted to travel the world since I was a child, and I’m fortunate enough to be able to do just that. I write about my life abroad on my blog, estrellaexplores.com.

What bag do you carry?
My favourite purse to use at the moment is the purse my boyfriend’s family gave me on my birthday a few months ago. It’s from a Spanish store called Misako. I love the size of the purse, it isn’t too big, but it’s big enough to carry all the things I need to take with me on a daily basis.

What's In Your Bag India

What are some of the essentials you carry in your bag on a regular basis?
My essentials are my wallet, keys, mobile phone, a packet of tissue and some lip balm. I think the first three are things everyone carries in their purse or in their pocket, for obvious reasons. I lived in South Korea for a year where there isn’t always toilet paper in public washrooms, so it was a must have in my purse everywhere I went. Now, I carry it around out of habit. I bring my lip balm along because I hate the feeling of chapped lips, and it’s usually small enough to fit in any purse.

Can you show us the contents of your bag and talk a bit about it?
My purse is always filled with stuff! On top of the essentials I wrote about above, I usually also bring:

iPad Mini + Kindle: I take the metro everywhere I go, including the school where I work. During my commute time, I use these to read books and magazines, or to play games. The iPad mini is also great for times I want to go to a café to write, but don’t want to lug around my laptop.

Re-useable shopper: This is just handy to have in my purse in case I end up going grocery shopping or need an extra bag for whatever reason.

Mini Notebook + Pen: I use these to jot down any blog ideas I have or information I want to remember, such as phone numbers or shopping lists. I know that I can always write it down in my phone or iPad mini, but I sometimes I prefer things written down on paper.

Compact Mirror: I use this to check my make up and make sure there isn’t any food stuck in my braces.

Eyeliner: I have a condition that causes my eyes to tear up every once in awhile. If I’m wearing eyeliner, I always bring it with me in case I need to touch it up while I’m out.

Sunglasses: Like everyone else, I use these to protect my eyes from the sun.

A Tin filled with Mints + Tylenol: I always carry around mints in case I end up eating or drinking something that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Tylenol is in case a headache strikes, which is luckily not that often.
If you were to head out to a fancy party, what would you carry in your bag?
My essentials, extra make up (like lipstick and eyeliner) for touch ups, a compact mirror, and mints.

For a day of adventure, what would you pack?
For a day of adventure, I would pack my essentials, sun block, water, an extra shirt, and maybe a sun visor.

Lastly, how many bags do you own?
I’ve brought about 3 bags with me to Spain, but my collection has probably grown to 7 in the last year and a half. I have more bags at home in Toronto, but I don’t recall the total number. If I had to hazard a guess, I’d say I have more than 20 bags in total, but I’ve been collecting purses for more than a decade so I don’t think that’s a lot.
